About

A little about Brian Simms. Many thanks for stopping by site and visiting this page.  Please let me give you a little background on who I am and what I do.

My name is Brian Simmsand I’m the guy behind GetMeOffTheDole.com and the Get Me Off The Dole book.

You can have a good look round the site and find some nuggets of information and free tools to help you get back to a full time job  – but let me take a moment to give you a bit of glimpse at who I am and what I do.

I have had a number of years experience as an Army Instructor and have since become well acclimatised to civilian life and trained people in IT, Life Skills and of course Job Search Skills.

I became acutely aware that many job search training establishments have gone on to teach their clients the 'traditional' way of job hunting and have not taken into consideration that times have changed (along with the available technology).

This is why the Get Me Off The Dole book and blog were launched early 2009.  The book is the result of many years experience in coaching adults to assess their abilities and strengths with a view to a career change. Although there are many books on this subject, none cover the same ground.

Get Me Off The Dole is different in that it not only advises the job hunter what to do but also shows how to do it without any of the added confusion. This blog provides additional advice and tips for the readers of this book:

This website you are looking at complements the book of the same name.  Incidentally, the book (Get Me Off The Dole) can be obtained from Lulu.com.
